July 31 Run

Just a quick reminder that Ironwood Springs will be having their 5k trail run on Saturday at 8am.  Registration begins at 7am.  Consider coming out for this race.  It really is a lot of fun and even crosses the river a time or two.  For more information, see

I will not be at the run this Saturday, as I will be working out at the race at Ironwood.  Post a comment to this if you are wanting to meet and check back to see if there are others interested.

Come join me if you can for my run to benefit the Rochester Area Family Y's Strong Kids Campaign.  The run is next Tuesday, Aug 3, from 5am-10pm.  Call 287-2260 to get your name added to the schedule for the other treadmill.  See and for more information.

Planning on next weekend's run though.

Happy running!

Saturday, July 24 Run

We will be meeting at the SMS front doors at 7:15 for our run.  Let me know if this time doesn't work out for you with a comment below - I can swing back by the school to pick you up later, but can't be there before 7:15 again this week.

Also, just a heads-up, I will not be at the run next week.  I will be working at the 5K race out at Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch on Saturday, July 31.  This is a part of the weekend celebration Miracles Happen II.  The race is cross-country and begins at 8am, with registration taking place in the hour before that.  See for more information.  It really is a nice race!

Saturday, July 17 Run

Join us for a run on Saturday, July 17 at 7:15am. Runs will vary from 4 or fewer miles to however far you want to go. I will not be able to go out earlier than 7:15 - Mel is gone on vacation and I will be having Grandma Shirley watch the kids.  Reply below if you can make it.
Also, remember Mr. Parry's Endurance Challenge for the YMCA is on August 3.  See for more information.

Runners in attendance this morning were Joe (with Ruckus), Darwin, Jay, Teri, and Jim. Runs varied from 3.5 to 7.25 miles. Went out to Bear Cave to battle the deer flies again, then some continued for a small loop around town. Joe tried out his minimalist running shoes on the run today. Jim

YMCA Strong Kids Campaign 17 Hour Treadmill Run

Mr. Parry's Endurance Challenge for the YMCA
Come in and support Mr. Jim Parry on Tuesday, August 3rd. Jim will be running from 5AM-10PM (17 hours!!) on a treadmill in our lobby to raise money for our 2010 Strong Kids Campaign! You may have heard of Mr. Parry's Endurance Challenge in Stewartville a few months ago. Mr. Parry teaches 6th grade and he is interested in raising awareness about the importance of exercise for youth and everyone in the community. During his 24 hour run in Stewartville, he completed 100 miles. Jim used to work at the YMCA in Rochester and so did his father. Jim shared, "My family was able to take part in Y programs when I was a child because of the scholarship program. We would never have been able to afford those opportunities without the generosity of others." So Jim is giving back on Tuesday, August 3rd from 5AM-10PM at the Rochester Area Family YMCA: Visit for more information.
You can help Jim out by:
1) Running along side Jim. We will have a schedule for people who can run with him on a 2nd treadmill in the lobby.
2) Pledge Jim efforts with a donation to our Strong Kids Campaign at
3) Spread the word. Share this information and invite others to participate by visit
4) Volunteer to help organize this effort by emailing
